No, don't worry I'm not 007 Licensed To Kill :-)
My involvement in Unarmed Self-Defence stretches from
my primary school days when I was involved in JKA Shotokan Karate, then my
training in the Police, later in life my involvement in Tenshinkan Karate (SAPS
Free State Team + Tenshinkan 4 Nations Championships) and then it finally really
got direction when I met Jerry & Wilna Oosthuizen of the 'National Crome
Buster Self-Defence Campaign'.
Crime Buster is an NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation)
who provides unarmed self-defence training to Woman & Children in
South-Africa, that was started by Jerry & Wilna quite a couple of years ago.
After all the training in karate with local as well as
Japanese sensei, I was not ready for self-defence on the streets. Only after I
did the Basic Crime Buster Course with Jerry & Wilna did I feel ready to
defend myself and teach others to do it as well.
I had the opportunity, about six years after my initial
training in Crime Buster's techniques, to do the updated course and to help
present it to a few thousand school children and teachers in my area with some
of Crime Buster's best coaches.
I am still involved with presenting different training
sessions with Jerry & Wilna as well as a few course groups I run on my own
here in my hometown from time to time. |
